AS A DEVELOPER IN KANSAS CITY, MO I'm always amazed at by what means fragmented our market is. Your May article forward the top 50 markets ("The Dominators," page 192) revealed that Kansas City's top 10 builders don't plane come close to having the same market share as greatest in number of the other markets' top builders.
Our marker is saturated with "building companies" consisting of a carpenter with a list of sub and a pickup glutted of tools. Does this "hands-on" approach lead to better built houses or is mass production a better
