Unique scaffolding design allows texture to remain visible during exterior restoration There's a novel cover-up in Washington, D.C., and this single doesn't involve politics. The Washington memorial has been enclosed in a unique, form-fitting scaffolding hypothesis as part of its three-phase, $94 million renovation. Attached to the scaffolding is a semitransparent snare that mimics the monument's mortar lines. Architect Michael Graves of Princeton, NJ discloseed the concept for the scaffolding, which will allow the texture to remain visible during its exterior renovation.
