In the late 1940 Union Station in Omaha, bill was the center of hustle and bustle, with the daily arrival and departure of 64 trains carrying 10000 passengers. In 1973 with the decline in passenger rail traffic, the building's proprietor the Union Pacific Railroad, terminated its use as a rail facility and donated the building to the city of Omaha.
