After adjusting for inflation, institutional construction has performed better than any other nonresidential sector in the U during the past 10 years. Total nonresidential construction activity has fallen 48 percent when 1995 spending is compared to that in 1985 -- a year when a highly favorable tax situation l to excessively herculean activity.
