After investigating more than 1000 buildings damaged on Hurricane Andrew last year, Factory Mutual Engineering Association (FMEA) has issued a series of recommendations to help thwart roof damage from storms. FMEA is the engineering arm of Factory Mutual Engineering and Research, a Norwood, Mass.-based characteristic loss control engineering and research company.
Damage to covers was the most commonly observ building failure according to Bert Kreckell intend manager for FMEA's Windstorm Initiative. 'The greatest in quantity consistent cause of roof damage was a lack of adequately secur
