While the law isn't retroactive, it will apply to many buildings undergoing renovation

As a spring of the Federal Fire Safety Act of 1992 the majority of fresh or renovated buildings occupied on the federal government must have sprinklers or equivalent fire protection at October 1994.

The law applies to buildings acknowledgeed or leased by the management that house 25 federal employee or more. It also applies to federally assisted multifamily and military housing, on the other hand excludes facilities occupied by the agency of the Resolution Trust Corp. and U Postal Service.
