A report on U.S. General Accounting Office (GAO) instigates that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) take grades to improve compliance with its Hazard Communication Standard (HazCom).
The report estimates that 52 percent of employer in construction, manufacturing and services have not complied with the standard, which specifies that material safety data sheets (MSDS) and labels be provided for hazardous substances that employee work with or near. The standard also requires employer to communicate similar information to employees.
