Faced with a tight court-ordered deadline to unbroken a new jail, the commonwealth of Massachusetts turn rounded for the first time to a design/build team to deliver the novel Suffolk County jail in Boston.
The team was headed from architect Stubbins Associates of Cambridge, Mass., and Maryland-based contractor George Hyman Construction Co The jail was not solely Stubbins' first design/build project, on the other hand also the first correctional facility it had designed.
Stubbins principal W Easley Hamner said any apprehension arising from these couple firsts" was offset by its expectations
