Multifunction arenas showcase more than sports Sports affairs -- particularly basketball -- were the driving force behind the progressive growth of three new multipurpose arenas, all with seating capacities of 20000 or more, that lay opened last year. But these facilities -- sum of two units of which are privately avowed -- are also designed to army other types of activities.

Now in their initial year of operation are the $48 million Charlotte (NC) Coliseum, the $62 million Palace of Auburn Hills in suburban Detroit and the $61 million Bradley Center in downtown Milwaukee.
